Creating a word learning environment for vulnerable word learners

Getting vocabulary teaching right in the classroom will support all students however for those with additional learning needs small adaptations made in the classroom will impact every day. Vocabulary interfaces with learning for all students and is a crucial teaching skill.

The word learning environment of the classroom has the potential to overwhelm vulnerable word learners. There are simply too many words that these students do not know and left unsupported this will impact on their learning and engagement. Slight changes, when done regularly as part of standard teaching, will go a long way to supporting vulnerable word learners.
