What is oral language?
Oral language, also referred to as spoken language, includes speaking, listening, and non-verbal communication – how humans communicate with one another. Oral language skills are the foundation for communication and at the heart of listening and reading comprehension, serving as a predictor for both. Early spoken language skills are the most significant predictor of literacy levels.
