Shaping the World – Evonne Goolagong – Digital

The Shaping the World series follows the life of Evonne Goolagong. She is one of Australia’s greatest sportswomen. She won over 92 tennis tournaments and was the first Indigenous Australian to win at Wimbledon.

Evonne’s father made her first racket from an old apple crate, and she would hit a ball against anything she could find, especially the big concrete water tank. She set up the Evonne Goolagong-Cawley Foundation to give indigenous children opportunities to “Dream, Believe, Learn and Achieve” as they make their way in the world.

Teacher support material is available through a Sound Beginnings membership.
